When the love of your life goes to heaven, your memories will never die.
Working with fellow pet parents and being one myself, there's a common fear/belief that the memories you once had might disappear now that your beloved has died.
You know the feeling. It's the terrifying feeling inside (in the pit of your stomach) that the devastation of your loss has taken your precious/priceless memories along with it.
I'm here to share with you that your love story can still live on by taking a few steps in the early stages of your grief journey to preserve your precious memories with your loved one.

If you're experiencing brain fog, forgetfulness, confusion, and feeling as if you've lost some memories of your sweet one, you're not alone.
These feelings are natural after a dramatic loss. The good news is that they are not permanent. Instead, they are a temporary and natural part of the grieving process.
Pet Loss ~ Memories for Life Tip: Give yourself permission to write down memories when they come to mind.
I want you to remember that your memories are alive within you and will never die.
Here's an exercise I have families practice that makes a world of difference. First, strategically place a notebook and pen in several places in your house. Then, ask God to uncover and recover the precious memories you shared with your beloved and write them down in shorthand.
Sometimes, writing things down at this stage of your grief journey can feel overwhelming. I suggest you make bullet points for your memories so you do not feel overwhelmed. Jot down just a few lines, and then move on.
Over time, you will see that the resurfacing memories are priceless. Trust that God is working on healing your heart while He restores your cognitive health and well-being.
My friend, you are not alone! Just know that fellow pet parents are experiencing the same thoughts and feelings as you are, and doing this exercise right now will pay off tremendously throughout the years ahead. You have memories for life through pet loss, grief, and your healing journey.
If you need extra support and guidance, I'm here to help. I'm only a phone call or click away.
From my heart to yours,
Rachel
